1892 – Victoria Building, University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Architects:
Alfred Waterhouse
The first purpose-built building for what was to become the University of Liverpool, with accommodation for administration, teaching, common rooms and a library. Commonly thought to be the inspiration for the sneering “red-brick university”. Finished externally in Ruabon brick and common brick with terracotta dressings.
