Studied architecture at University College Dublin, graduating in 1970, and for a Master’s degree in Urban Design at the University of California in Los Angeles. Worked in Italy, Britain and America before returning to Ireland. Lectured at the Dublin Institute of Technology (1976-9). Established Murray O’Laoire Architects with Hugh Murray in Limerick in 1979, in Dublin in 1982 and, as Murray O’Laoire International, in Moscow in 1992. Elected Fellow of the R1AI in 1993 and Vice-President in 1995, and President in 2008.
