1898 – Houses at Walton on Thames, Surrey

Architect: Cyril E. Power

0010

“An attempt has been made to give these houses, which are to be built on a site close to the river, a distinctive character by placing the upper floor entirely in the roof. The materials are stock- brick, rough-casted, for the ground floor, with green Tilberthwaite slates for the roof covering, and all woodwork white painted. The deep lead aprons to the dormer fronts over the entrance doors are to be relieved with repousse decoration. Red chimney-pots on the stacks will give a touch of bright colour to the whole. The drawing was exhibited in this year’s Royal Academy by Mr. Cyril E. Power, the architect.” Published in The Building News, October 14th 1898.
