Published from The Roadstone book of House Designs, produced in 1980. Billed as “A guide to building your own home with 25 new house designs by Reg Chandler, Des Doyle, Arthur Gibney, Ray MacDonnell, and Allan O’Regan. Described as “a substantial family house with a very distinctive appearance and some interesting features. On the ground floor are three large bedrooms. On the second floor, approached by a stairs off the entrance hall, is a master bedroom, bathroom and balcony which almost adds up to a separate apartment. The kitchen is fitted and spacious. The lounge/dining room complex is a roomy L-shaped area looking out on an enclosed patio. The area is double height with a masterly soaring ceiling in stained softwood giving an all-over atmosphere of amplitude and comfort. The house has an detached garage related to the main building by interestingly articulated boundary walls. The exterior of the house is at once traditional and distinctive. The construction material of concrete block is softened and varied by th exposed wood-work of the balcony and the stained weather-treated under-roof timbers. The whole crowned with the massive roof in brown or black concrete roof tiles.”
