Engaging with Architecture Scheme

logo-artscouncilirelandThe Arts Council and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht announce the Engaging with Architecture Scheme 2011, with the purpose of supporting new and exciting projects which will engage the public with architecture. The closing date for applications is Thursday 21st July 2011 and projects must take place before 31st March 2012.

Claire Doyle, Head of Architecture at the Arts Council said: ‘We are delighted to announce the second year of this funding scheme in partnership with the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht under the Government Policy on Architecture implementation programme. The Department’s commitment to this scheme affirms its achievements last year and demonstrates a real understanding of the importance of engaging the public with the built environment’.

Martin Colreavy, Chief Architectural Advisor/Government Advisor on Architectural Policy, Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht said: “The quality of our built environment profoundly affects the quality of our everyday lives and this understanding is one of the key drivers behind the design and continual regeneration of our built environment. Through this joint collaboration with the Arts Council, the Government Policy on Architecture programme is delighted to support what is a unique opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of the contribution of good design to the daily life and well being of society as a whole, and hope that the comprehensive results of the first year’s initiative will further enhance a better understanding for this year’s programme.”
