PADDI gets facelift

logo-artscouncilirelandThe well-established PADDI database has been redeveloped and relaunched to provide enhanced searching facilities and faster retrieval of information. PADDI, a unique resource for anyone working in the fields of architecture and planning in Ireland, is the result of a longstanding and fruitful collaboration between the libraries of Queen’s University Belfast and University College Dublin.

The database currently contains 25,000 book and journal article records on all aspects of Irish architecture and planning with approximately 1,000 records being added each year. A cornucopia of material is here – information on buildings and landscapes, on works by architects past and present, on legislation, and including material on topics as diverse as conservation and iconic new buildings, grand projects and small rural settlements, the development of key areas and contentious planning issues – PADDI features all this and more. The new version of PADDI retains the best of the old but has moved with the times to provide a more intuitive approach utilising a powerful and effective search engine.
