Retail Planning Guidelines – example of best practice wanted

Under Action 21 of the ‘Government Policy on Architecture 2009-2015’ Paul Keogh Architects has been commissioned to prepare a retail design ‘best practice’ manual as part of the review of the Retail Planning Guidelines for Planning Authorities.

The purpose is to give guidance on sustainable retail planning, including the importance of location and design. The guidelines will expand on the Key Principles of Urban Design set out in the Richard Rogers-led Urban Task Force Report – ‘Towards an Urban Renaissance’.

PKA are seeking examples of best practice for inclusion in the manual. RIAI practices are invited to forward suggestions for consideration (please include title, location, a brief description and illustrations/photos) to PKA (info@pka.ie) not later than 6.00pm, Friday 18th November.
