Irish Georgian Society announce winners of Drawing Awards 2012

The Irish Georgian Society has announced the winners of its Architectural Conservation and Drawing Awards, 2012. The awards are an annual scheme to encourage greater appreciation of Ireland’s built heritage and the work of conservation professionals. There are two categories – one for a non-CAD drawing relating to a historic building; and one for a CAD drawing relating to an historic building. This last category is being introduced so as to encourage new entrants and to present further opportunities to highlight work in this field.

The winner of the CAD drawing category was an image of No 3 Henrietta street, Dublin 1 by Justin O’Connor MRIAI. The drawing (above) is reminiscent of the detail illustrations from the 19th century journals, The Irish Builder, and The Building News.

The non-Cad drawing award went to Mark Costello for his beautiful drawing of the Nine Arches Bridges, Milltown, Dublin 6.
