1882 – Glebe House, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare

Design by William Isaac Chambers selected in limited competition. Published in The Irish Builder, March 1 1882.

“Our illustration represents the new Glebe House now in course of erection at Monasterevan, Queen’s County. The design and drawing is by Mr. W.I. Chambers, architect, 5 Wesmoreland-street, and was selected in a limited competition. The whole building is to be built with Athy stock bricks and the quoins and dressings of red stone and red bricks from Messrs. Thompson Brothers of Kingscourt, whose firm are also making all the moulded bricks from special designs of the architect. The whole of the materials to be used in the building (excepting timber) will be of Irish production; the slates will be from the Victoria Quarry near Carrick-on-Sure. Mr. John Harris, builder of Monasterevan, is the contractor and its is only fair to him to say that he is carrying out the work in a manner highly creditable to him.”
