NEW NOW NEXT – A New Generation

A New Generation, is a panel of three Irish architects who will take to the stage to discuss their work from a national and international perspective. The event will be held in the Project Arts Centre, Wednesday, June 25th.

The event is chaired by Dominic Stevens, architect and lecturer at the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Rory McGowan, Director, Arup said: “At ‘NewNowNext’ world-leading architects present exciting and challenging views in unique spaces. Since its genesis, Arup has been challenging views; we aim to shape a better world. This year in addition to bringing some of the brightest international thinkers including Samuli Woolston, Minsuk Cho and Olé Scheeren to Dublin, the series will also provide a platform for ‘The New Generation’ of domestic talent.”

After the event everyone is invited to a reception in the Project Arts Centre bar. NEWNOWNEXT is a series of public talks sponsored by Arup, revealing current and next generation ideas and architects from across the globe.

Lucy Jones

Lucy Jones is an architect based in Dublin and Brussels. She founded a small multi-disciplinary practice in 2011 with the aim of developing an exploratory approach to design focused on making. This exploration evolved from her experience working as an architect and project leader in Brussels and Copenhagen before and since graduating from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2008.

Laurence Lord

Laurence Lord is co-founder of Architecture Practice + Experimentation (AP+E), a design and research studio based in Amsterdam and Copenhagen working across the boundaries of architecture, urbanism and regional development. The studio was founded with Jeffrey Bolhuis after several years of successful collaboration. AP+E have recently exhibited and spoken at the Bi-City Biennale in Hong Kong and won a competition to build an external learning pavilion in Carlow.

Steve Larkin

Steve Larkin is a musician and an architect. He studied architecture at University College Dublin and graduated in 2002. He established Steve Larkin Architects in 2007. Since then the practice has been the recipient of a number of national and international awards and commendations. Steve is currently a senior lecturer in Education at Queens University Belfast and studio tutor at the Dublin Institute of Technology. He is a guest critic in a number of universities in Ireland and the UK. The practice was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture in 2013.
