“The terms of the competition required two designs — the second to be a treatment of a cross. Design No. 1 is a free treatment of Celtic, that of No. 2 of the Decorative period. The materials proposed to be used were Irish limestone and polished granite. The designs are by Mr. J. J. O’Callaghan, M.R.I.A., architect, 16 Nassau-street, Dublin.”
