1870 – Hamilton Monument, Skerries, Co. Dublin
A small obelisk commemorating a local landowner. James Hans Hamilton (1810-1863) was a wealthy landlord and member of parliament. After his death the Hamilton Testimonial Committee organised the design and building of a monument to him in Skerries. This simple monument would benefit from some landscaping – perhaps a larger traffic island to allow people to approach it.
