Just realized the lack of large scale first class entertainment venues in Dublin and throughout the country. The Point, The RDS, City West etc… are seriously lacking. (Recent concerts at the Point and the Riverdance spectacle at City West come to mind.) Nothing but people on the Joe Duffy Show daily complaining about the inappropriate venues with obscured views in which a lot of big shows are held. … (ie pillars in the way etc)
Okay, the Point is due a makeover, there’s the proposed National Conference Centre and the Daniel Leibeskind thing down the Dublin docks. The Helix is the only purposely built entertainment venue!
Like the national stadium issue, it needs attention. Good to see that Lansdowne Road is nearly all levelled. Will be great when it’s completed!
