      I am looking for engravings of Dublin by Francis Place. I have found one in Niall McCullough’s book (the original is in the National Gallery) and the attached image from the Coultard Institute. Does anyone know where I can find more. I know there is one which is a vista from St Andrew’s Church. Does anyone have a copy?

      There’s a great Francis Place drawing of Waterford City (c. 1698) from about the same vantage point used by Van der Hagen ( copy on the ‘Dutch Billy’ thread, page 8) about forty years later.

      It would be a great idea if we could assemble a full catelog of all Francis Place’s Irish drawings on this site, they are such an important resource in that they record such a pivotal moment in our urban development (and they sometimes show Billys!)
