The Examination Schools were designed by Thomas Graham Jackson and were completed in 1882. They were Jackson’s first major commission and set the scene for his transformation of Oxford’s academic architecture over the following 40 years.

Constructed in 1879 to commemorate aa marine tragedy of 1858. It has carved sandstone panels to the east and west consisting of anchor and bollard (west) and storm-tossed ship (east).
