“These villas are being erected for Mr. N. White, in the Christ Church-road, Folkestone. They are without basements,
Developed by the Southport Hotel Company (funded mainly by Manchester merchants), the Birkdale Palace Hotel was built on a 20 acre site fronting the Birkdale shore.
The old Anglesea Bridge, built in the 1830s, could not cope with the volume of traffic using the bridge by the 1870s.
