The tallest existing spire in Dublin and sited on high ground so as to be visible from the Liffey valley,
“A square site necessitate a departure from the usual type of planning, and advantage was taken of this to produce a building practicaly without obstruction to sight.
St Augustine’s church is a distinguished building, predominantly in the Decorated style. However, the window tracery of the side aisles is Perpendicular.

St Cartage’s Parish Church was officially opened in 1884, and is regarded as one of the finest examples of Lombardo-Romanesque churches in Ireland.
