During the Crimean War, the need was felt for an Anglican church to minister to British sailors and others in Constantinople.
St. Andrews, the 3rd church to stand on this site in Toddington, was designed by George Edmund Street who had been commissioned by the 3rd Lord Sudeley.
George Edmund Street was commissioned by the distiller Henry Roe to restore Christ Church Cathedral which was in very poor shape.
