Less elaborate than the wholesale vegetable market across the street, and designed by the City Engineer 1887-1910,
Still Dublin’s Fruit Markets and best observed early in the day when they are still invigorated by the hustle of business,
Unbuilt competition entry for a new town hall. The competition was won by Joseph F.
Recently restored, the markets contain a working fish market and a bric-a-brac market of stalls and traders.
After the First World War, two storeys were added to the building, and converted to civic offices. Demolished in 1964, along with the old City Hall to make way for the City Hall –
“This design, by Mr. Percy Robinson, Albion-street, Leeds, was awarded the second premium of £50 in the recent competition.

Dating from 1902, the brick and stone facade hides a large functional cast-iron galleried market hall.
