Richmond Olympic Oval shortlisted for World Architecture Festival Award

The Richmond Olympic Oval, designed by Cannon Design Architecture Inc. for the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver has been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival Award’s Structural Design Award. Shortlisted nominees include entrees from the UK, Japan and Indonesia, among others.

Award recipients will be announced at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona which takes place from November 4-6, 2009. It is the biggest event and awards program of its kind in the world, celebrating architecture and design, and honouring architects from around the world

Cannon Design’s BC-led sport practice assembled a team that included the structural engineering firm Fast + Epp for the project. With four offices in Canada, Cannon Design is an international firm specializing in planning and design for health care, science and technology, education, and government clients. At present, the firm employs a staff of 800, delivering services in 17 offices throughout North America, as well as abroad in Shanghai, China, and Mumbai, India.
