William John Green (b.1835-)

William John Green was born c.1835 and was admitted ARIBA on 16 June 1856, presumably from King’s College, London. He won the Soane Medal in 1857, and about that date entered into a partnership with the Frenchman Louis DeVille and won the competitions for the Hartley Institute in Southampton and the conversion of the Brighton Pavilion Riding House. The partnership appears to have been dissolved soon thereafter. Green was admitted FRIBA on 21 June 1878 with the influential support of Charles Barry Junior and Robert Kerr. He appears to have retired by 1899, when he allowed his membership to lapse.
