Conservation of Historic Ironwork Seminar

A Conservation of Historic Ironwork Seminar will be held at The Market House, Monaghan, 10.30am – 4pm, Thursday 23rd June 2011. This seminar is part of the International Forge In, taking place in Monaghan 23rd-26th June. It’s free, but booking will be essential.

10.30: registration, tea, coffee.
11.00: Introduction and welcome. Colm Murray, Architecture Officer, The Heritage Council.
11.10 – 11.40: Historic Ironwork and Architectural Heritage. Ali Davey. Historic Scotland.
11.45 – 12.15: Working with Irish Blacksmiths on restoration projects. Edward Bisgood. Chairperson, Irish Artist Blacksmiths Association.
12.20- 12.50: Traditional wrought iron gates. Liam Mulligan, Chartered building surveyor.

2.00-2.30: National Heritage Ironwork Group and training. Chris Topp, Chairman, National Heritage Ironwork Group, England.
2.45 – 4.00: Demonstration at Forge with Paul Devlin and Richard Linstead, Irish Artist Blacksmiths Association.
4.00. Tea and coffee to close.
