Green-Door Leitrim – A Festival of Rural Architecture & Design

This event aims to showcase some of the amazing architecture and creativity that Leitrim has tucked away in its beautiful landscape. The Green-Door weekend is an opportunity for people from anywhere to come to Leitrim and have a fantastic weekend of architecture-based activities laid on for them. Around 30 homes/buildings will be open over the weekend to the public, some will be bookable, others on a first come first served basis, but all will be free. There will be tours by architects and designers such as Dominic Stevens, Gordon Ryan and Colin Bell and also by the self-builders and some material suppliers.

In addition, other architecture/building-led events as well as a children’s green building activity will take place. Green-Door Leitrim Weekend runs from 9-11th September. The event forms part of ‘Inspirational Homes Leitrim’ which was set up to document and make accessible the unique diverse built heritage that this distinctive county has tucked away in its landscape. Its aim is to facilitate the sharing of experiences, knowledge and skills amongst builders, homeowners, architects, self-builders and anyone with an interest in making sustainable the future of building in Ireland.
