“A general prospect of the Royal College of St Patrick, Maynooth and the proposed additions”. Pugin’s scheme for St. Patrick’s Seminary as designed, but ultimately not completed by him, with the church eventually being designed by J.J. McCarthy, and the spire by William Hague. When Pugin’s scheme came in at twice the budget, he resigned. After some time and other bids, he was reinstated but told that he could only build two-thirds of his proposal, and not the church.
