“These schools have been lately erected at Ashley Down, Bristol, for the Bristol School Board. The materials of which the buildings are composed are local bricks with Bath atone dressings, the roofs being covered with Bridgwater angular tiles, and the floors laid with wood blocks. The general contract was let to Mr. H. Walters, the plumbing and sanitary works being carried out by Mr. O.F. Tuckey, whilst Mr. S. White acted as clerk of works. The joint architects for the work were Messrs. Walter S. Paul and James, M.R.I.B.A., and G.C. Lawrence, A.R.I.B.A., whose design was selected in competition in 1897.” Published in The Building News, September 15 1899.
