1890s – Underground Toilets, Waterloo Place, Derry

0070

Proposal for new underground public toilets at Waterloo Place for Londonderry Corporation. Prior to the pedestrianisation of Waterloo Place and the Guildhall Square, buses for the Bogside and Creggan circulated around the Guildhall Square to drop off and pick up passengers at the bus stops along the City Walls before exiting to the Bogside and Creggan via Waterloo Place. This fully trafficked square accommodated Victorian public toilets at its centre.
