Larne-born William Kirk (1795-1871) was a merchant and an MP who developed the linen industry in Keady and Darkley. Erected by the local people to honour him as through his mills provided economic prosperity to the region. This rather clumsily designed memorial was the work of a civil engineer by the name of Fitzgibbon Louch.
