Constructed as a cinema after the destruction of the area in the 1916 Easter Rising.
In 1910 the Electric Picture Palace had opened in Venn St. Clapham on the site of a former stables.
Originally rebuilt after the 1916 destruction of this part of Dublin, as the Corinthian Cinema,
Replacing two buildings destroyed in the 1916 Rising, Nos. 7-8 Eden Quay was re-constructed as a ballroom and commercial premises.
Built on the site of the former Metropole Hotel, which was destroyed in the 1916 rising,

Opened as the Classic Cinema and renamed after it was taken over by the Gaumont chain. The building included a cafe and dance hall.
At its opening in 1923, the Stella was the largest cinema in Dublin, with a capacity of 1,283.
Like many Dublin suburbs, Ringsend had its own cinema. Unfortunately like many, it closed due to declining attendences.
