Born on 29 August 1849 at Greenwich, Kent, England, third son of John Sulman, jeweller, and his wife Martha, née Quinton.
“A square site necessitate a departure from the usual type of planning, and advantage was taken of this to produce a building practicaly without obstruction to sight.
“The plan of this church consists of nave and aisles of the usual relative proportions, but there is only a single granite column on each side forming any appreciable obstruction to sight.
